Leticia Vasquez Wilson Earns Endorsement of Two Influential Democratic Clubs in Her Bid for the 33rd Senate District

LYNWOOD, CA – The Chicano Latino Immigrant Democratic Club of Los Angeles County (CLIDCLAC) and the San Pedro Democratic Club are the latest coveted Democratic clubs endorsing Leticia Vasquez Wilson for Senate.

Founded with the purpose of furthering Chicano and Latino immigrant populations, CLIDCLAC serves as an important voice in throughout Los Angeles County. The group also provides a crucial platform for Chicano and Latino leadership, to promote stronger candidates for Los Angeles and California as a whole.

“As the next Senator representing the diverse 33rd Senate District, I will continue to work to encourage Chicano and Latino residents to empower the community in areas of immigration and social justice issues such as economic development and quality of life issues relative to violence prevention, youth, and better schools.  I understand their struggles because I lived them and am a part of the same community. I will work to fight for comprehensive immigration reform and I will work to live up to the expectations of the CLIDCLAC.

The San Pedro Democratic Club is one of the largest party organizations in the district.“I am honored to have the support of the San Pedro Democratic Club,” added Vasquez Wilson.  “Together we will continue fighting for jobs, affordable housing, medicare for all, civil rights, and better schools.
The daughter of immigrants from Mexico, Leticia Vasquez Wilson earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy & Administration from California State University, Long Beach. She earned a second Master’s Degree in Education from Pepperdine University. In 2005, Vasquez Wilson made history as Lynwood’s first Latina mayor. During her tenure, she led an aggressive lobbying effort that brought in millions of dollars for new parks, schools, housing, shopping centers, streets, and a new state-of-the-art senior citizen center. Elected to the Central Basin Municipal Water District in 2012, Leticia, currently represents the cities and communities of Lynwood, South Gate, Florence-Graham, Willowbrook, Compton and Carson.  

The 33rd Senate District includes the Los Angeles County cities and communities of Cudahy, Bell, Bell Gardens, Lynwood, Maywood, Signal Hill, Paramount, South Gate, Vernon, Walnut Park, Huntington Park, and most of Long Beach with portions of the cities of Lakewood and Los Angeles to achieve population equality.

The election is Tuesday, March 26.
